While Mann was auditioning for The Cable Guy’s movie, Mann and Kim met for the first time. That movie first aired in 1996. During a recent interview with Elle, Apatow confessed that he was in love with his future wife when he saw her. Even though the actress initially preferred the director, Ben Stiller, she decided to give him a chance after realizing that Judd might be a nice person. When I was riding to [a] basketball game with my friends, I was like, “Oh! ” Everything suddenly made sense to me. Having been with a mean person for a long time, I thought, “Wow, this guy is nice; this is the type of person I should be with.” So after a game, they made out. Even though she did not feel the feelings right away, she fell in love within a brief period. I remember driving home the following day – oops! I slept over! – I feel so happy and like… I felt like I had already fallen in love, even though it was just the beginning.”
