Criminal psychology junkies loved Netflix’s Mindhunter. When season two was released in 2019, fans devoured all nine episodes in no time and the long wait for season three began. So it came as no surprise when Netflix teased new goodies from David Fincher in October 2021.
Fans speculated that this was the long-awaited third season of Mind Hunter. Unfortunately, this wasn’t the case. For, a documentary about cinema was the new “goodie.” Netflix indefinitely halted Mindhunter.
Are you going to give up hope for season 3? We’ll see how it goes!
Mindhunter season 3 has been renewed?
In an interview to promote his upcoming biopic Mank, Mindhunter creator David Fincher says the show won’t return for a third season.
We haven’t heard much about the third season of Mindhunter, but what we’ve listened to has not been promising.
The main cast was released from their contracts at the beginning of the year, suggesting that season three is not imminent.
According to a Netflix spokesperson, David Fincher will “possibly revisit” Mindhunter in the future. While exploring other options, he felt it was unfair to block actors from finding work.
Jonathan Groff plays Holden Ford, a young FBI agent on a mission to find his girlfriend’s killer. He convinces Bill Tench (Holt McCallany) to work with him on a unit that deals with psychologically disturbed criminals.
Ford interviews the most dangerous prisoners to determine what motivates them and uses those findings as a tool to solve crimes. By getting them to share their thoughts and behaviors.
Mindhunter’s first season examines the Atlanta Child Murders, in which 29 African-American children were killed between 1979 and 1981. In season three, Ford goes out into the field to apply what he has learned from interviewing serial killers such as Ed Kemper (Cameron Britton).
Then what does this mean?
Another good news is that there won’t be any cancellations anytime soon! Mindhunter, the new movie from Penhall and Fincher, has taken Netflix by storm.
Will Mindhunter have a third season?
Netflix recently announced that it is working on two scripts for Mindhunter’s third season. There are no details about the plot, but there have been speculations that Ford may work with a new character to investigate cold cases in California. His move might sever his friendship with Tench and lead to a new crime unit.
Fincher also planned to make five seasons of the show. Fincher is currently busy with other projects, including The Girl in the Spider’s Web and World War Z II, but he has informed fans they can expect Mindhunter season three soon.
However, the release date of Netflix’s third installment of this beloved series is unclear. Regardless, fans won’t be disappointed.
