A fellow Oscar winner generously picked up the 355 actresses from the airport when the friendship was born.

Since she first arrived in Los Angeles, Penélope Cruz bonded with Salma Hayek.

The 47-year-old actress, who appeared on Thursday’s episode of Ellen DeGeneres Show, said she had been friends with Hayek for over a decade, going back to the first time she met Hayek when she was picked up from the airport for the first time when she arrived in the city for the first time.

The two of them had never met in person before at that time, as they had only spoken over the phone. Nevertheless, Hayek still gave Cruz a warm welcome.

She said to host Ellen DeGeneres, “This is going to be hard at the beginning, and you will feel very lonely.” She had been coming here for two months and had no friends here. So she picked me up and said, “You’re not going to the hotel. You’re coming to my house.”

She loved Salma Hayek so much that she invited her to stay with her the first time they met: “I love her so much.”

Cruz accepted the offer in the end. I went to her house,” the actress said, adding, “That’s why we’re like sisters now.”

When Cruz first arrived in southern California, she was scared. Hayek even let her sleep in her room at first.

She told DeGeneres, 63, that she had held her hand in the middle of the night because she was afraid, dreaming.

It was amazing that someone I didn’t know – only on the phone – picked me up from the airport and wouldn’t let me go to the hotel,” Cruz said, adding, “I love her so much.”

As DeGeneres interjected, Cruz responded, “She’s been that way with me from day one.”.
